Context & Introduction

Wipro as an Oracle Retail implementer provides services specialized in architecture design, implementation, management and maintenance for Oracle Retail (OR) suite of products. The OR suite uses a solid worldwide adopted solution both in terms of data handling and middleware solutions.

In terms of data handling, Oracle Database (DB) is the centralized point for storing and transforming data from all products that make the OR suite.

For middleware, Oracle Fusion Middleware (OFMW) is part of the infrastructure which facilitates creation of business applications, security (authentication and authorization) and enables high availability functionality.

Currently, the majority of the install and configuring tasks associated with infrastructure and applications needed for a fully functional OR environment, are performed manually.

The next step is to take advantage of the IBM UrbanCode Suite to automate the construction of a fully functional OR environment.

Objectives / Goals

Provided with a base infrastructure composed of a certain amount or hardware resources, network capability and Operation System (OS) the objectives are:

• Understand installation and configuration automation process for base technology stack (DB and OFMW) and OR suite product
• Understand the orchestration process of changes across environments
• Create a document for the findings.

In order to accomplish the objectives, IBM UrbanCode suite provides a specific module.

The IBM UrbanCode Deploy is a tool for automating application deployments through your environments. It is designed to facilitate rapid feedback and continuous delivery in agile development while providing the audit trails, versioning and approvals needed in production

Working Plan

This project will have the duration of 6 months. During this period the candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the activities in scope for this solution:

1. Install Urban Code Deploy
2. Understand the basics of installation DB, OFMW and OR
3. High Level Solution Design 
4. Proof of Concept
5. Internship report
