Honey bee colonies have been suffering intense devastation as result of bacterial and fungal pathogens. Paenibacillus larvae, Mellissococcus plutonius, Nosema ceranae and Ascosphaera apis are the most significant pathogenic microbes of honey bees, but others like Aspergillus flavus, A. niger and A. fumigatus can also be agents of disease. Honey producers have detected some correlations between pathogens occurring in their hives. This work intends to identify and characterize bacterial and fungal pathogens of bees, and to analyse correlations between them.
