About us
Earth^3 is a “New Space” Startup based in Paris and Toulouse and co-funded in 2015 by two engineers who graduated from Supelec in 2008 and Centrale in 2004.
We are a very young company but we are very ambitious and we move very extremely fast. We want to mix the best of nanosatellite technology with advanced data science processing to disrupt Earth Imaging business and fulfil the need for high revisit low cost value added multispectral imagery. Potential applications are ranging from disaster early warning to climate change monitoring.
We aim to send stuff in Space but our business is not satellite or imagery, our business is information, real time value added information. From Space.
The internship
We are looking for a 3 to 6 months intern in the field of data science and statistical image processing.
You will develop image analysis algorithms based on specific statistical approach and test them on archive space imagery followed by real life field test (using our own cameras with drones or cranes). The objective is to evaluate our change detection capabilities for several applications (oil spill, fire detection…) depending on the instrumentation (TIR, MWIR, SWIR…).
You will pave the way for the proof of concept that we intend to finalize by end 2016. Basically you will help us build a key block of our business: the “Data Science”.
We look for someone brilliant with an impressive resume, and with very good knowledge in some or all of the subsequent fields: image processing, applied mathematics, statistics and signal processing. Big Data and space imagery notion will be really appreciated and a relevant dual Engineering/M2R profile will not be too much.
Successful candidate will demonstrate strong software capabilities and proficiency with at least one image processing tool (Matlab, Idl, Scilab…) and scientific programming skills in languages such as Python or C/C++ . And if you have, at least, a basic knowledge of remote sensing technique and space technology for earth observation this will be a no brainer!
Successful applicant will also be autonomous, creative, ambitious, very dynamic, and of course, passionate about Space.
We are a young start-up and we don’t make lots of money (yet) so don’t expect banking level compensation. And you’ll be assigned challenging tasks and we’ll require lots of your time. This is not going to an easy internship.
But this will be a unique opportunity, unlike anything else out there. You will build an entire part of our business with us, see real time influence of your work, and tackle lots of different issues in a very dynamic environment. And the most important: you’ll get to work with some very cool space stuff!! We can promise you one thing: this is going to be exciting!
And as a growing company we are not simply looking for an intern here, but also for a future employee that could end up leading part of our business in a few years. So if you think you are up to the task and want to send stuff in space, or if you have any question, feel free to send us a mail at
